Drumstick leaves dal recipe | How to make andhra style munagaku papau



Munagaku pappu recipe:Andhra style drumstick leaves dal to serve with rice or chapathi. Andhra style dal recipe are mostly made with leafs green or vegetables like palak,methi, goungura,tomato, cabbage,gourds and cucumber.There are different ways of preparing pappu. One common method is to add all the ingredients and pressure cook.then mash and temper ingredients like,green chilies,
garlic,tamarind and ghee are used to suit one's taste.To make andhra pappu most people use lot of red chilly powder,green chilies and tamarind to make sore and hot.Due to these ingredients the dish gets a deep orange to red color.To day i am preparing a green leaf dal that is  drumstick leaves dal its very easy and simple to cook.

A simple drumstick leaves pappu recipe:

INGREDIENTS:

1 cup toor dal
6 green chilly
1 chopped small onion
1 chopped tomato
5 garlic cloves
1 tbs red chilly powder
1/4 tbs turmeric powder
1 small lemon size tamarind
salt to taste
1 pinch hing
oil
Temparing: mustard seeds,cumin seeds,chanadal,urad dal,dry red chilly,curry leaves(1 spring).



STEP BY STEP PHOTOS TO MAKE MUNAGAKU PAPPU RECIPE:

.Heat a pan add toor dal dry and roast it ( taste of the dal is going to increase).


.Pressure cook dal untill we get 3 whistles.


.Heat oil in a pan add mustard seeds,cumin seeds let them crackle add chana dal,urad dal,dry red  chilly saute till they turn lite brown.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          
 
                                                                                                                                                    
.Now add green chilly,garlic cloves,curry leaves saute for 2 minutes then add hing,onion,turmeric  powder saute untill onion turn golden brown now add  tomato,drumstick leaves mix once place
 the lid and cook for 5 minutes.


.Then add tamarind juice place the lid and cook till leaves tender or turns olive green color and
 soft.And add red chilly powder,salt mix well and cook it in a low flame for 5 minutes.Add  boiled(pressure coocked)and mashed dal slow cook it for 5 minutes and switch off the flame.




.Now your tasty drumstick leaves dal is ready to serve with rice,chapathi and roti.
